Statement on our Mission and Partnership with Common Tone Arts

- Partnership enacted in March, 2022 -

“Rooted in Seattle's vibrant music community, the Seattle Saxophone Institute fosters an important pathway for local grade school saxophone study. We provide student access to the region's strongest performers and educators, and create empowering musical experiences for students at our camps. Since 2015, we have aspired to cultivate a unique model of music education by embracing the saxophone’s varied role in music history, and encouraging students to seek out innovative modes of personal expression.

The Seattle Saxophone Institute is committed to establishing a welcoming and creative learning environment. We offer a comprehensive series of saxophone camps that embraces modern alternatives to traditional musical curriculum sources. At the Seattle Saxophone Institute, we place student learning at the center of our work. Each season, we sculpt a new curriculum inspired by the musical interests students bring to our camps. Our world-class faculty create original compositions, fresh ensemble arrangements, and have access to a broad library of saxophone-specific materials that meet the demands of all student levels of ability. We partner with local musical organizations and faculty to provide expanded educational and performance opportunities in our city.

Through our partnership with Common Tone Arts, we seek to increase the availability of our summer camp programs by offering more free and reduced tuition, expand to year-round programming, foster more educational outreach in area schools, and provide new learning resources for students both locally and beyond our region. In our partnership, we will strive to reach more diverse student populations of socio-economic, racial, and gender backgrounds. The Seattle Saxophone Institute is proud to partner with Common Tone Arts during this next chapter in our organization.”
